Vegan - all products are of exclusively vegetable origin!
Vegans give up eating not only meat, sausages and fish but also all products of animal origin. Among the abandoned foods are milk, milk products, eggs and such ingredients as gelatine and honey. According to the market and public opinion research institute YouGov, there are currently 900.000 vegans in Germany (stand: 2014).
Here, the reasons for choosing this form of nutrition are of different nature. Animal rights and animal protection are, undoubtedly, one of the key reasons; however, health and fitness aspects as well as climate and environmental protection are also crucial factors for choosing vegan nutrition. The origin of the word “vegan” goes back to the English word “vegetarian”. The word “vegan” is created by leaving out 5 letters in the middle.
The vegan lifestyle is expressed in careful choice of the consumed products. Amongst others, vegans use non-animal cosmetics and leather-free fashion.
If you’ve made up your mind to become a vegan, you should change your nutrition in a careful way. Before reorganising your nutrition plan, it is a must for everybody to get enough information about the vegan products and their ingredients. You will soon realise that your body can absorb almost all nutrients in a combination of fruits, vegetables, cereals, legumes, nuts, seeds and plant fats.
