The HACCP-quality assurance concept was evolved in order of the American Space Agency NASA to produce space suitable astronaut nutrition. The community regulation 178/2002 designates the use of the HACCP-concept in all companies working with production, processing and selling of food.

GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is a guideline for quality assurance of the production runs and the environment within the production of medicaments, active substances as well as food and animal feeding stuffs .
